Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) net income rises 38% to $2.1 billion, or 80¢ a share, as revenue increases 13% to $28.5 billion on strong notebook PC sales and growth in its international business. Non-GAAP profit is 86¢ a share.
Analysts expected a profit of 81¢ a share and $27.6 billion in sales.
H-P also raises its 2008 guidance, lifting shares 5% in pre-market trading.
